Job Summary:    

Performs security patrols and procedures that assure the protection of the hospital employees, patients, visitors, and property.

1. Must be able to effectively communicate with patients, visitors and staff.
2. Patrols HCH buildings and property to insure doors and windows are secure, and to prevent and detect signs of intrusion.
3. Must answer all alarms and calls for assistance, and investigate any disturbances, and contacts authorities for assistance as needed.
4. Monitor entrance and departure of individuals to guard against theft,and maintain security of premises.
5. Should present an image of professionalism to gain respect and trust of staff and public.
6. Monitors and records readings of equipment that regulate the building systems such as boilers and chillers.
Contacts Maintenance on-call for assistance when needed. 
7. Individual ability to handle crisis situations which include, but are not limited to, unruly patients, visitors, employees, facility fires & disasters.
8. Must be able to perform duties on a timely basis. 
9. Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
10. Knowledge of hospital and security policies and procedures, and monitors other individuals for violations of policies and procedures.
11. Opens safe as necessary for placement or retrieval of patient belongings.
12. Keeps accurate records of daily shift and Incident reports including equipment or property damage, theft, unauthorized individuals or unusual occurrences. 
13. Other duties as assigned.
14. Makes sufficient rounds during shift unless unusual circumstances arise.
15. Keeps sidewalks free of ice and snow.
