Harrison County Hospital is seeking a full-time Certified Medical Lab Technician to join our team!

The certified Medical Lab Technician performs specimen collection and processing, test performance, and result reporting for the purpose of obtaining information for the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients, or for providing information to others who will diagnose and treat the patient. Performs other duties necessary to laboratory operations including inventory management, supply ordering, proficiency, quality control, competency, procedure development, and performance improvement activities.

Education:

  • Requires an Associates or Bachelor's degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
  • Clinical experience as a component of educational program.
  • One to three years clinical hospital working experience is desired.

Demonstrates knowledge skills and behaviors appropriate to the population served, based on specific criteria and/or age specific considerations, as follows

  • Has the ability to perform phlebotomy and capillary puncture procedures for neonates and infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
  • Has the ability to communicate patient preparation and procedure information to the parents of neonates and infants, and to communicate at the level of patient understanding for children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
  • Has the ability to obtain and interpret information from the parents of neonates and infants, and directly form children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients necessary for appropriate patient care.
  • Has the ability to interpret laboratory test results based on the normal ranges for neonates and infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
