Job Summary: Under the direction of the department of nursing service, the staff nurse, as a licensed practical nurse, bears responsibility and accountability for the nursing care patients receive while functioning within the LPN scope of practice. The staff nurse's practice possesses characteristics identified in the nursing professions standard of practice, nurses code of ethics, and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act. Inherent in this practice is the nursing process; the assessment of the patient status, the plan of nursing actions as directed by the RN, the implementation of that plan and the evaluation of the plan. The staff nurse's patient population will include patients from infancy to geriatric who present with either emergent, medical or post-surgical problems.

  • LPN license in good standing in the state of Indiana.
  • Annual Fire/Safety Inservice attendance.
  • Corporate Compliance
  • Annual OSHA testing


  • Good knowledge of medical terminology


  • Venipuncture Skills.
  • ACLS trained.
  • BCLS trained.
  • Ability to accurately monitor cardiac rhythms.
  • PALS recommended


  • Completion of hospital approved Dysrhythmia course and/or comparable experience in critical care nursing and/or emergency room.


  • Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and behaviors appropriate to the populations (s) served, and based on specific criteria and/or age specific considerations, as follows:
  • Exhibit communication skills necessary to interpret age specific response to situations.
  • Ability to assess and interpret data specific to infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Ability to provide age specific treatments. (Infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics).
  • Knowledge of growth and development.
