Status: Full-time, Days plus 1 on call shift

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the department of nursing service, the staff nurse, as a registered nurse, bears primary responsibility and accountability for the nursing care patients receive. The staff nurse's practice possesses characteristics identified in the nursing profession's standards of practice, nurse's code of ethics, and the Indiana nurse practice act. In Inherent in this practice is the nursing process; the assessment of the patient status, the plan of nursing actions, the implementation of that plan and the evaluation of the plan. The staff nurse's patient population will include patients from infancy to geriatric who present with either medical or post-surgical problems.

REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current state Registered Nurse Licensure.
  • CPR certified
  • ACLS certified
  • Corporate Compliance
  • Annual Fire/Safety Inservice attendance.
  • Completes required competency testing/in-services, including annual skills lab.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
  • Good knowledge of medical terminology

SKILLS:

  • PALS trained
  • Venipuncture Skills.
  • Ability to accurately monitor cardiac rhythms. Obtains 85% or higher on telemetry test.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate from accredited nursing school.
  • Completion of hospital approved critical care course and/or comparable experience in critical care nursing and/or emergency room.

Demonstrates knowledge, skills and behaviors appropriate to the population(s) served, and based on specific criteria and/or age specific considerations, as follows:

  • Exhibit communication skills necessary to interpret age specific response to situations.
  • Ability to assess and interpret data specific to infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Ability to provide age specific treatments. (Infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.)
  • Knowledge of growth and development.
