A Polysomnographic Technician performs comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, and associated interventions under the general supervision of a Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and/or the clinical director (MD, PhD, DO) or designee. A Polysomnographic Technician can provide supervision of a Polysomnographic Trainee.
Polysomnographer performs and scores sleep studies, including patient hookup, patient monitoring, problem-solving, and scoring. Persons in this position are expected to demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and logical/professional behaviors under sometimes demanding and stressful conditions.
REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintains current CPR
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
- Additional languages preferred but not required
- Medical and Laboratory Terminology
SKILLS:
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Typing/Keyboard
- Printer/Fax/Copier Operation/Maintenance/Troubleshooting
- Phone System Operation
- Excellent People Skills
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis in polysomnography.
OR
Successful completion of a polysomnography program of no less than one than one year duration associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technician.
AND
Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or equivalent
